King Kai

Head of Music Production

Michael Kurtis Banks, born September 14th, known professionally as King Kai, is an American rapper and record producer. He is The co-founder and CEO of FBF productionz. He has produced and overseen many albums and collaborative projects over the last 15 years, and has rubbed elbows with artists such as Bahamadia, Cappadonna of Wu-Tang, Joe Clair and others. King Kai started his career in the early nineties as a rap artist and writer for the group - Hell's Kitchen. A group that consisted of members from Boston, LA and DC. In the mid nineties, while chasing a record deal, the group up routed to Atlanta,Georgia, where King Kai emerged as a dominant producer.

His influences for music came early in life. While hanging out in the basement listening to his mother's records, he became mesmerized by the melodies and funky drum patterns. At an early age he knew he wanted to do music. As a child, he would perform with his brothers and sister. At that time, he knew that music was a part of him. King Kai's production style incorporates his childhood. Those records in the basement… Ramsey Lewis, Mandrill, Issac Hayes, Aretha Franklin… those records helped shape his style of production; and he is true to his sound, "Soul Hop". .... Something that moves you.
